Nurse Practitioner

Full-Time | Salary Based on Experience
Kodiak Community Health Center is seeking a compassionate and community-minded Nurse Practitioner who believes primary care is about more than treating an illness. The role focuses on listening, educating, building trust, and caring for the whole person, providing comprehensive primary care to a diverse patient population while working alongside a collaborative team that values personal accountability, respectful communication, cultural awareness, and kindness.
Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the primary healthcare needs of KCHC patients.
- Provide compassionate, culturally respectful, and evidence-based care across the patient population.
- Maintain accurate, complete, timely, and legible documentation for every patient encounter.
- Educate patients about their health, treatment options, prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Work collaboratively with the Medical Director, Clinical Director, fellow providers, clinical staff, and community partners.
- Participate in regular chart reviews, peer review, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities.
- Identify and actively correct opportunities for improvement found through quality reviews.
- Obtain appropriate consultation, collaboration, or supervision when required for patient care or clinical procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of professional standards of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Pursue continuing medical education relevant to the needs of KCHC's patient population.
- Attend provider meetings and participate in group processes established by the Medical Director.
- Support community health education through presentations, panel discussions, articles, public service announcements, and other outreach activities.
- Represent and support KCHC at community events, including occasional volunteer activities on behalf of the organization.
- Work cooperatively and positively with internal team members and external agencies.
- Adjust schedules when reasonably needed to support patient access, organizational operations, and provider-team coverage.
- Perform additional responsibilities that support the mission and vision of Kodiak Community Health Center.
- Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution, or
- Doctor of Nursing Practice from an accredited institution.
- At least one year of direct patient‑care experience is required.
- Primary care, family practice, community health, rural health, or Federally Qualified Health Center experience is valued.
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Alaska, or the ability to obtain Alaska licensure.
- Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Basic Life Support certification upon hire, or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to develop positive working relationships with patients, leadership, providers, clinical staff, and community partners.
- Respect for different cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
- A collaborative and solution-focused approach.
- The ability to give and receive feedback constructively.
- Sound professional judgment and personal accountability.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- A genuine desire to care for people, strengthen a team, and become part of the Kodiak community.
Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's education, experience, credentials, and overall qualifications.
