Position Overview

Provides clinical laboratory services in accordance with KANA's mission, policies, and procedures while maintaining compliance with CLIA, CMS, and laboratory best practices. This role performs accurate and timely testing across pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic phases while collaborating with clinical staff to support high‑quality patient care. The position also supports quality assurance initiatives, training, and continuous improvement within the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides laboratory testing services across all phases, including pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic processes
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CMS, and laboratory quality standards
  • Performs testing procedures accurately, verifies results, and maintains proper documentation and records
  • Participates in quality assurance and quality control programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Assists in evaluating, validating, and implementing new laboratory tests, methodologies, and equipment
  • Analyzes and reports laboratory data in a timely and accurate manner to support clinical decision‑making
  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to ensure effective communication of results and coordinated patient care
  • Assists in training laboratory and lab‑trained clinical staff in testing techniques, safety practices, and compliance standards
  • Performs routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
  • Maintains inventory levels and assists with procurement of laboratory supplies
  • Participates in research, process improvements, and new technology evaluations
  • Attends laboratory and department meetings and contributes to continuous improvement efforts
  • Supports laboratory safety programs and emergency preparedness plans
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory practices, procedures, and regulations including CLIA and CMS
  • Proficiency in laboratory disciplines such as hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis
  • Ability to perform accurate testing, analyze data, and communicate results effectively
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based healthcare environment
  • Effective communication skills with both patients and healthcare professionals
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
Work Schedule

KANA's standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one‑hour unpaid lunch break (8.5 hours on site per day).

All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate.
