ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and café food items
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Cleaning service and seating areas
  • Servicing customers and taking orders
  • Ordering, receiving, and distributing stock supplies
  • Receiving and processing customer payments
  • Handling a cash register and cash including end of shift close out and preparing bank deposit drops
  • Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, stocking coffee brewing equipment and maintaining supplies and informs the Café supervisory of inventory to be ordered
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and informing the supervisor of needed repairs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORKING CONDITIONS

Weather:
Indoors:
Primarily in an environmentally controlled Cafe; requires most or all work to be done inside.
Quiet to moderate.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year of retail, hospitality, food service and/or customer service experience
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under ANHC’s insurance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • +1-3 years of retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community
