JOB SUMMARY

A cashier is responsible for providing great customer service, processing sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, performs cash register operations and safeguarding NPF, Gas-N-Go Gas Station assets according to established procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(and other duties as assigned)

  • Operate cash registers when receiving payment for cash, credit/debit cards or other; issue receipts, and process change/refunds/credits.
  • Count money in cash drawer at the beginning/end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and has adequate change.
  • Maintain clean and orderly check out areas and other general cleaning duties such as sweeping/mopping floors, emptying trash cans and other.
  • Stock shelves with merchandise, and mark prices on shelves and items.
  • Assist/ensure that customers receive outstanding service by providing friendly environment which includes greeting customers, maintaining outstanding standards, and providing solid product knowledge.
  • Operate/monitor gas pump dispensers, including dispensing propane safely using established guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Cash register experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
