Compensation: $22.15 hourly
Job Type: Temporary part-time
General DescriptionThe purpose of this job within the organization is to perform a variety of routine and complex work to enforce security and protect the property, personnel, and resources of NOAA research vessels while in port, in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and policies. This position works under close general supervision according to established NOAA practices that determine how or when to complete tasks.

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have 1–2 years of prior security officer experience. A clear criminal record is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA strong commitment to the well-being of others is necessary to be successful in this position. Must have the ability to work calmly and efficiently, particularly when under duress. A neat, professional appearance and the ability to work on your feet and navigate stairs for extended periods is necessary. Must be able to work a variety of shifts.
Unavoidable HazardsInvolves routine and frequent exposure to loud sounds, vibration, stairs, ramps, and inclement weather. May be exposed to fumes and hazardous materials when working with mechanical equipment and tools. May require use of PPE (personal protection equipment) such as earplugs, safety glasses, hard hats, reflective vests, supplied on site, and to know their proper usage and storage locations. Hazard situations to be aware of and protect yourself from at all times.

Indoor/outdoor – may work outside in extreme weather conditions.

Special Certifications and Licenses- Valid Alaska Driver's License.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card) (obtainable after hire)
