Sr. Engineer, Electrical Design

DUTIES
:
We seek a Sr. Engineer, Electrical Design based out of our office at 2151 E Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work from the office and from home; the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. The position requires domestic and international travel, as needed, up to 10%.

• Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of electronic controller circuits used in power electronics devices and systems to meet technical product requirements.
• Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements.
• Perform the electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs.
• Specify, identify, select, and test key, critical electrical components.
• Lead the design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, and electrical interconnects/bus structures.
• Develop an optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solution utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical and cost constraints.
• Work with the Borg Warner systems engineers and program team to ensure the proper allocation of requirements and to perform the verification of those requirements allocated to the electrical competency.
• Support Borg Warner product development team with technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations.
• Proficient in the vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem and can help mentor other engineers on such aspects.
• Work with Systems Engineering and Application Engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues.
• Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products.
• Focal point for electrical design technical discussions with cross-competency team, management and customers using highly effective communication and facilitation skills and techniques.
• Determine best techniques/procedure and apply for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering and 60 months of experience in a power electronics circuits design role.
• Experience with motor drive inverters in Automotive Systems Engineering.
• Experience modelling, simulating, and testing of electronic controllers used in automotive and power electronics applications.
• Experience with design and test of industrial EMC compliant power electronics systems.
• Experience in designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls.
• Experience with product engineering and manufacturing processes and capabilities.
