Sr. Engineer, Electrical Design

DUTIES
:
We seek a Sr. Engineer, Electrical Design based out of our office at 2151 E Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. This is a hybrid position with work from the office and from home. The employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the address. This position requires domestic and international travel, up to 10%.

• Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of electronic controller circuits used in power electronics devices and systems to meet technical product requirements.
• Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements.
• Conduct electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs.
• Specify, identify, select, and test key electrical components.
• Lead the design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, and electrical interconnects/bus structures.
• Develop optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solutions balancing requirements to meet schedule, technical and cost constraints.
• Collaborate with Borg Warner systems engineers and program teams to ensure proper allocation and verification of electrical requirements.
• Support product development with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations.
• Be proficient in vehicle system components and functions that interface with the power electronics subsystem and mentor other engineers on these aspects.
• Work with Systems Engineering and Application Engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues.
• Collaborate with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products.
• Serve as focal point for electrical design technical discussions with cross-competency teams, management and customers using effective communication and facilitation skills.
• Determine best techniques and procedures for analysis, design, or experimental work.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering and 60 months of experience in related power electronics circuits design.
• Experience with motor drive inverters in automotive systems engineering.
• Experience modeling, simulating, and testing electronic controllers used in automotive and power electronics applications.
• Experience with design and testing of industrial EMC compliant power electronics systems.
• Experience designing, integrating, and testing DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls.
• Experience with product engineering and manufacturing processes and capabilities.
