The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the processes meet overall quality standards and specifications of the high voltage battery. The Quality Engineer will work to implement quality control measures as they relate to change process, measurement system analysis, defect analysis, as well as failure mode and effects analysis to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction. The Quality Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance product quality.
This role requires a strong understanding of quality engineering principles, statistical analysis, problem-solving skills, and effective communication to ensure the highest level of product quality. This position reports to the Product Quality Manager.
- Prepare reports, continuous improvement activities, and other KPI/KAI related documents for review across all levels of the organization
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis of non-conformances and ensure on time completion of all validation activities, as well as data analysis to identify areas of improvement
- Facilitate reviews to eliminate internal systemic and external roadblocks
- Manage product specifications, inspection standards, technical requirements, manuals, and lesson learned activities
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent. (Bachelor's degree in aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, Mechatronics or related to STEM major may also be considered with technical industry experience)
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities, effectively engaging with individuals at various organizational levels
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability
- Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
- Ability to coach / mentor / develop cell QC Inspectors
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Master’s degree in chemical or electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial automation and controls experience with strong foundation in project management
- Bilingual in English and Korean
- Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
- Shainin Red X / Six Sigma Certification
- Experience with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plans, FMEA, Production Part Approval Process, MSA, and SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Experience with quality certification and system such as ISO
9001/IATF
16949 is required - Familiar with lean manufacturing methodology and implementation
- Extensive knowledge in Data Analytics utilizing MS Excel, MS Access or other database applications
- Good working knowledge of Google Suite software programs
- ASQ Certification in Quality and Reliability
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
