Dyno Test Technician
Location:
Kokomo, Indiana
Borg Warner Power Drive Systems is seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Dyno Test Technician to perform test execution and dynamometer operation on hybrid and electronic vehicle power electronics products.
Key Responsibilities- Support and execute dynamometer testing for electrified vehicles in manual and automated modes under engineering direction.
- Set up dynamo meters, including mechanical and electrical installation of test equipment and devices.
- Collaborate with engineering to review test data gathered from dynamometer operation.
- Support dyno cell operation, troubleshoot equipment, and perform necessary maintenance.
- Review test specifications to ensure equipment capability.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement actions related to dyno cell operations.
- Ensure raw test data aligns with test processes for quality purposes.
- Set up power analyzers and test inverters with assistance from Test Technology and Engineering teams.
- Understand test plans and schedules, and communicate effectively when milestones or deliverables are at risk.
- Work routinely in a hands‑on manner.
- Adhere to high‑voltage safety standards and procedures.
- Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology (EET), Mechanical/Electrical Technology (MET), or related engineering technology field required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Solid knowledge of engineering theories related to rotating electric machinery and ability to apply these theories to complex situations.
- Familiarity with automotive power electronics products (inverters, converters, chargers).
- Experience with electric machine dynamometer equipment for power electronics.
- Proficiency with oscilloscope and power analyzer instrumentation.
- Strong problem‑solving, multitasking, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Leadership attributes and a self‑starter attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel).
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications and product documents.
- Preferred experience in a testing lab or manufacturing environment and familiarity with automotive test strategies and methodologies.
