SENIOR PRE-PRODUCTION INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
Title: Senior Pre-Production Industrial Engineer
Duties: Borg Warner Noblesville LLC seeks a Senior Pre-Production Industrial Engineer based at 2151 E Lincoln Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. This is a hybrid position requiring work both from home and the office; candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time is required.
Responsibilities include:
• Facilitate global pre‑production industrial engineering efforts for electric and electrification programs; develop long‑term global manufacturing capacity models and implement solutions to increase excellence and productivity across manufacturing sites worldwide.
• Assist global cross‑functional teams (manufacturing engineering, material handling, plant personnel) to design and integrate new or expanded lean manufacturing systems into existing plant environments.
• Implement new model resources, equipment, and labor optimization efforts to achieve lean targets through benchmarking, target setting, process change tracking, and program replication.
• Guide layout planning, virtual build events, and engineering prototype builds to validate future model operator allocations and time studies; support physical build events and program launches.
• Formulate and periodically update the Manufacturing Readiness Plan (MRP) for optimal utilization of facilities, equipment, and labor, aligned with global footprint strategy.
• Introduce ergonomic job evaluation early in programs and collaborate with product development teams to incorporate design fixes.
• Serve as an advising ergonomist to assess and address ergonomic issues at various manufacturing sites; develop solutions to enhance operator safety and efficiency and integrate these into ongoing program builds.
• Implement industrial engineering knowledge management across the business unit; prepare and conduct training for plant IEs on standard time measurement methodology, safe and ergonomic workstation design, and line balancing.
• Facilitate sustainability initiatives within the business unit; track energy‑efficiency improvement projects across manufacturing plants and complete other duties as assigned.
