Lab Support Technician - Indianapolis, IN
;
Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with rotational weekends.
Pay range: $17.20+ per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

The Support Technician performs various technical and clerical functions under supervision. Duties may include order entry, processing, testing (including Point of Care patient testing) and reporting of waived and moderately complex kit test results as allowed by organizational and CLIA guidelines. Maintain ethical and professional standards consistent with medical laboratory practice.
Responsibilities – General- Complies with OSHA, health and safety requirements
- Complies with MACL policies and procedures, including HR & Corporate Compliance/Integrity
- Contributes to a positive work environment as a team member
- Organizes, plans, and performs multiple tasks to meet objectives
- Cooperates with additional duties as assigned
- Utilizes and maintains equipment to maximize efficiency and control costs
- Maintains good attendance and punctuality
- Provides internal and external customer assistance with a service-oriented attitude, including telephone etiquette
- Demonstrates flexibility to meet customer and organizational needs
- Participates in continuing education to maintain and improve skills
- Maintains ethical standards such as confidentiality and professionalism
- Completes training checklists and is evaluated for competency before performing new duties
- Demonstrates competency on checklist tasks within six months
- Adheres to collection and processing requirements to prevent loss or compromise of specimens
- Uses all tools to ensure appropriate specimen requirements and knowledge of interferences
- Performs accurate and complete labeling
- Follows proper processing techniques and stores specimens appropriately
- Completes documentation to facilitate processing and problem-solving
- Uses computer systems appropriately, including backups
- Evaluates specimen integrity for testing ordered
- Prioritizes workload appropriately
- All technicians perform technical work under direct supervision
- Performs technical duties accurately as assigned
- Performs cleaning, maintenance, supplies, and inventory of technical areas
- Performs clerical functions (reports, logs, charging, patient charts, etc.)
- Performs non-testing preventative maintenance and documents QC results
- Performs additional technical tasks as assigned
- Demonstrates knowledge of department computer systems
- Ensures daily and periodic maintenance and non-testing QC is performed
- Resolves department issues with supervision as needed
- Assists with training of new associates
- Loads instrumentation; cross-trains in other areas
- Assists with inventory management and QC of bedside devices
- All technicians perform testing under direct supervision
- Performs preventative maintenance and waived/moderate complexity testing as trained
- Performs and documents QC
- Reports patient and QC results for waived and moderately complex tests
- Operates instrumentation, including maintenance, QC, and patient testing
- Prepares and stains slides as trained
- Issues blood components for transfusion as trained
- Performs biannual testing for device correlation or linearity
- Performs other duties as assigned, trained and competency documented
Preferred
Work Experience:
Prefer one year of experience in a hospital or laboratory setting.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Routinely lift 25 pounds; sitting and standing for long periods.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
