The Health & Safety Specialist will focus on improving health and safety at STARPLUS ENERGY by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control, and minimize hazards in the workplace. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Conduct incident investigations and audits to identify and eliminate or minimize the chances of preventable work‑related illnesses and injuries
- Ensure ergonomic processes are implemented in an appropriate manner
- Function as an expert resource for consistent implementation of company health and safety standards and programs
- Respond to and report emergency situations
- Assist with compliance of annual safety trainings
- Develop and implement projects to reduce injuries and illnesses
- Track and record data for safety-related activities including injuries, near‑miss incidents, etc.
- Enforce all company policies and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Communicate safety issues and concerns to departmental leadership in a timely manner
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
Basic:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities, effectively engaging with individuals at various organizational levels
- Previous knowledge and experience working with OSHA, federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to workplace health and safety
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Duties may be modified at any time to meet business needs
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related Designation
- Bilingual (English and Korean)
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment.
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
