Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda. You will work in plasma center operations, report to the Plasma Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable), and support center functions under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. Bio Life Plasma Services collects high-quality plasma for life-changing medicines, with a focus on customer service and quality.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies following SOPs, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu).
- Manage and assess employee incidents, determining whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; follow EHS guidance for incidents.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified as LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
