Job Overview

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. The role provides donor eligibility assessment, medical support, and compliance with industry regulations.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies; coordinate with the Center Physician and emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety and eligibility guidance.
• Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats within the community.
• Provide center‑level support of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) in line with Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance.

• High school diploma or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current state license or certification as LPN or LVN where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. The actual hourly wage depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. The position is part of an hourly wage structure in compliance with state or local minimum wage requirements.
