Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to provide services at the School Based Health Clinic located in Howard County, Indiana. The position follows a school‑calendar schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to requests concerning medication effectiveness, side‑effects, special precautions, or problems, and consult with medical staff to provide directions on changes or modifications to prescribed medication regimens.
- Phone in prescription orders to pharmacies as directed by medical staff.
- Review lab and test results, reporting concerns and abnormal results to medical staff.
- Obtain medical histories and perform physical assessments as directed by medical staff, including blood pressure, weight, and AIMS testing; provide health screening as needed to direct residents to required medical care.
- Administer injectable medications as ordered by medical staff.
- Provide educational groups and one‑on‑one teaching to clients about psychotropic medications, diagnosis, and related health issues.
- Participate in reviews and modifications of clients' services during treatment planning.
- Supervise medications using pre‑packaged delivery systems or weekly pill minders as determined by the physician; assist with Patient Assistance Programs and utilize medication samples as prescribed. Oversee documentation in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and provide corrections as necessary.
- Assist with the maintenance of employee health records, including annual TB testing and hepatitis B vaccination.
- Act as a liaison with the Emergency Room, physician offices, pharmacies, and Meridian physicians to clarify medication orders, obtain proper prescriptions, and schedule appointments as needed.
- Complete required clinical documents for review and approval by a member of the medical staff.
- Complete additional documentation to ensure accurate and timely information for clients and third‑party billing.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Non‑probationary Indiana Licensed Registered Nurse required.
- Two (2) years of addiction treatment or psychiatric nursing experience preferred.

Drug screen, TB test, extensive background check, and fingerprinting are required of all Meridian employees.
