The mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. IDOC is currently recruiting for a temporary, non‑classified, part‑time, benefits eligible Correctional Administrative Technician. Correctional Administrative Technicians work within an institution. This position is responsible for coordinating facility staffing, managing roster and shift bid processes, serve as the main contact for scheduling needs, and support leadership with operational and administrative tasks.
This announcement will be used to fill a vacancy at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI).
- Develop, maintain, and update facility staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all posts, shifts, and operational areas.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling inquiries, clarifications, and issue resolution for staff and supervisors.
- Utilize scheduling software and workforce management systems to input, update, and reconcile staffing data.
- Administer the roster management process, ensuring accuracy of assignments, shift changes, leave approvals, overtime tracking, and special duty posts.
- Manage and coordinate the shift bid process in accordance with departmental policy, timelines, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepare and distribute bid materials, track employee submissions, verify eligibility, and finalize assignments based on established rules and seniority.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation related to schedules, bidding, staffing changes, and personnel assignments.
- Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing, filing, composing a variety of business documents and reception. Typically gained by at least 1 year of full‑time work experience performing a variety of office support functions or at least 6 college level credits that included word processing, filing and composing documents or at least 3 college level credits that included word processing, filing and composing documents AND at least 6 months of full‑time work experience that included responsibilities related to office support functions.
- Good knowledge of customer service and public relations. Typically gained by at least 6 months of work experience with responsibility for answering business phones, greeting visitors, and screening callers for further access to staff.
- Good knowledge of gathering and compiling data. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience gathering information from a variety of sources to collect and compile requested information and required that I have a good knowledge of services, operations, or programs.
- Good knowledge of balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects. Typically gained by at least one year of office work experience which required that you balance, coordinate, and set priorities for multiple supervisors.
- Good knowledge of personal computer and software functions. Typically gained by at least 1 year of office experience using word processing software to format a variety of business documents; or, I have recent Word processing training coupled with at least 6 months' experience performing word processing in a business office setting.
- Good knowledge of using effective English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar to compose and edit business documents. Typically gained by having at least 1 year of office experience which required composing and editing a variety of business documents on a regular basis; or, I have successfully completed at least 1 college‑level English composition or business English class AND have 6 months of experience composing business documents.
