Position Type:
Full‑Time.

Education Level: High School Diploma or GED.

Pay Rate: $19 – $23 per hour, depending on experience.

Work Schedule:

10‑hour evening shift, Wednesday – Saturday, 11:30am – 10:00pm.

Job Description

The Psychiatric Technician will be part of the mental health team at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution. The role involves leading daily activities with patients, including proper hygiene, social skill development, and recreational activities in the Acute Mental Health Unit. The Technician will monitor, model, and teach effective behaviors to improve patients’ lives, work within a multidisciplinary team, document significant changes in patient functioning, and assist in facilitating group therapeutic and psycho educational sessions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily patient activities (hygiene, social skills, recreation) in the Acute Mental Health Unit.
  • Monitor and model effective behaviors; teach patients strategies to improve their functioning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to plan and deliver care.
  • Document significant changes in patient functioning and inform appropriate staff.
  • Assist in facilitating group therapeutic sessions.
  • Facilitate psycho educational groups when required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in social sciences (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling) or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a correctional mental health setting preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.
