- Student Program Dates (19 Days): June 30;
July 1, 2;
July 6, 7, 8, 9;
July 13, 14, 15, 16;
July 20, 21, 22, 23;
July 27, 28, 29, 30 - South Dover Elementary end time will be 3:00 to accommodate Freedom School (+1 hour)
- Prep Days: $39.76/hour
- Increase school attendance and academic achievement of participating students in one or more academic areas
- Increase school connectedness of participants, including families, caregivers, and school teachers/staff
- Increase the capacity of participants to become productive adults
Quality after school programs provide safe, engaging environments that motivate and inspire learning outside the regular school day. While there is no single formula for success, research shows that effective programs combine academic, enrichment, cultural, and recreational activities to engage students and families in meaningful learning opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Administer basic first aid
- Dispense and document medication in accordance with nursing protocols
- Communicate with parents/guardians as applicable
- Maintain appropriate documentation of all nursing interventions and medication administration in Health Accounting
- Support medical needs of all students enrolled in 21st century programs
- Respond to emergencies and provide support for assigned schools as needed
- Provide triage coverage for multiple sites when called upon
- Be reliable, punctual, and prepared to support the after school experience
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as appropriate
- Collaborate with program staff and administration to support safe program operations
- Maintain reliability, punctuality, and preparedness for all assigned program days
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the District Supervisor/Director and Principal

- Regularly required to use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and communicate clearly.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Current Delaware Registered Nurse (RN) License (or compact state equivalent recognized by Delaware)
- Certified or eligible for a Delaware Department of Education School Nurse Certificate
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience (hospital, community, pediatrics, public health, or school nursing)
- CPR/AED/First aid certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross; pediatric and adult)
- Experience working with elementary, middle, and/or high school students
- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
- Tuberculin Test and physical
- Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
