Electrician Journeyman

Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait to support LOGCAP. In the role, you will install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain electrical systems and components of power distribution and generating equipment. You will perform operations and maintenance to maintain power to telecommunications equipment, and keep the facility’s electrical distribution system in good repair. Electrical work experience should include commercial and industrial installation.

Electricians must comply with National Electrical Code (NEC) 2008 for repairs and upgrades to existing construction; NEC 2011 standards apply for new construction, contract specifications, and MIL standards/regulations.

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain electrical systems and components of electrical power distribution and generating equipment.
• Perform operations and maintenance duties to maintain power to telecommunications equipment and keep the facility’s electrical distribution system in good repair.
• Apply electrical installation skills in commercial and industrial categories.
• Comply with NEC 2008 for repairs and upgrades to existing construction; NEC 2011 for new construction and MIL standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education/
  
  Certifications:
  
  One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if a degree is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a Journeyman Electrician license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a host country driver’s license.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum of five to seven years of work experience in the electrical wiring industry, including planning, laying out, and installing electrical distribution systems in accordance with the NEC, and prior direct supervision by a qualifying electrician for a licensed electrical contractor.

• Skills:
  
  Thorough knowledge of Electrical Codes; ability to manage multiple job sites and priorities; ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse backgrounds; ability to recognize the importance of safety, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions; basic computer skills.

• Working Conditions:
  
  Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120°F. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30°F in winter and 130°F in summer). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

• Physical Requirements:
  
  Light work. Exertion of up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently, negligible amount constantly. May require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where potential exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents exists. PPE required in some situations (head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, hearing protective devices). Compliance with all Fire and Safety Regulations and posting policies.
