Overview

The C-12 King Air Army Transport Aircraft Mechanic FAA A amp P services, repairs and overhauls assigned aircraft and subsystems to ensure airworthiness. Uses technical data to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems and repairs or replaces faulty components. Performs operational checks, disassembly and reassembly of engines and aircraft structures, and applies standard maintenance procedures at line or overhaul levels as required.

Responsibilities
  • Service, repair and overhaul assigned aircraft and subsystems to ensure airworthiness.
  • Use technical data to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems and repair or replace faulty components.
  • Operate and perform functional checks on repaired or modified systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Repair and replace aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units using hand tools, power tools, machines, and associated equipment.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers and maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Examine engines for oil leaks, listen to operating engines to diagnose malfunctions, inspect turbine blades for cracks or breaks, and test engine operation using troubleshooting procedures and diagnostic test equipment.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment; remove and install engines; disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or defects; repair or replace defective engine parts and reassemble and reinstall engines in aircraft.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcases, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes; service engines and airframe components at line station as needed to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Understand sub-systems, maintenance parameters, system operation, limitations, and technical orders; become qualified to perform engine runs for the assigned aircraft type.
  • Read, write, and interpret technical duties; communicate effectively with all levels of employees; may specialize in repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
  • Move freely about the interior and unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft weight specs; walk, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands; crouch, crawl, grasp, bend, and reach; carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds as required by job duties.
  • Operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.; have vision at least 20/100 near and far, corrected to 20/20; distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.
  • Be able to read dials and gauges, see aircraft in flight, and identify small objects and hand tools; type using a standard keyboard to communicate via e-mail and software applications.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must possess a valid FAA A&P Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as an A&P mechanic, including seven (7) years of specific C-12/King Air (200/350/1900) turboprop aircraft hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Completion of formal maintenance training on the assigned C-12/King Air aircraft, qualified by appropriate USG armed forces aircraft mechanic maintenance course or civilian equivalent training is desired; recent full-time aviation maintenance experience on C-12/King Air within the past 12 months is required.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance and facility access; you must be able to obtain and maintain a US passport for deployment to Kuwait and clearance as required.
  • Ability to pass CENTCOM Deployment Training and Army MOD
    17 Medical for Deployment; medical/physical requirements for engine runs, ground taxi, ordnance loading, and operation of self-propelled equipment must be met.
  • Must have mechanic tools/toolbox and be prepared to provide own shaded toolbox with etched tools (Company may ship toolbox to Kuwait).
  • Ability to travel to remote locations in austere or hostile environments in support of mission operations; willingness to work in potentially hostile environments and extreme weather conditions.
