Position: FIELD ROUSTABOUT I

Role Overview

The job of the Roustabout is to safely and efficiently perform all manual labor tasks throughout the rig.

The Roustabout works under the direction and supervision of the Crane Operator but reports to the Rig Manager.

Rotation Schedule
  • 56 days on / 28 days off (standard rotation).
  • Optional 14 days on / 14 days off, including holidays, weekends and nights.
Key Duties
  • Assist the Crane Operator with offloading and backloading of supply vessels.
  • Perform housekeeping activities on the rig (excluding the rig floor), including washing, chipping and painting.
  • Assist the Crane Operator with moving and relocating supplies, pipe and other equipment on the rig, attaching slings and cables to the object being moved.
  • Assist the Derrickhand within the mud pit, mud pump and chemical sack rooms.
  • Perform simple maintenance and repairs to the plumbing and sewer systems.
  • When trained, relieve the floorhand on the drilling crew.
  • Perform other general labor duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Roustabout in Kuwait.
  • Previous experience as a Roustabout/Floorman in Kuwait.
  • Transferable Kuwait visa – residence is a must.
  • Position is strictly a local transfer.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to wear respiratory protective devices.
  • Successfully complete Roustabout Training at the Nabors Training Center.
  • Reliable transportation to the crew change point for the assigned rig.
  • May require occasional travel and work in the field for training.
  • Operations oriented, may require being on‑call, working overnights and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs, 4+ hours of standing/walking on steel decking, grating or wet service ship decks.
  • Ability to exert push or pull force of up to 120 lbs while holding tag lines.
  • Identify hand signals at a distance of 150 feet from the Crane Operator on a supply or cargo vessel.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl while wearing PPE.
  • Transfer from boat to rig using a personnel basket, holding onto the outside of a rope matrix while basket is lifted above water.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain attention and alertness for up to a 12‑hour tour while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Maintain good footing while standing and walking for a minimum of 4 hours.
  • Repetitively lift and carry items weighing upwards of 60 lbs up and down stairs or distances up to 150 feet.
  • Exert a push/pull force of up to 120 lbs while holding tag lines of equipment and pipe during loading and offloading procedures.
  • Transfer from boat to rig through the use of a personnel basket.
