The KC-130J Avionics/COM/NAV Technician will troubleshoot and/or repair malfunctions in the aircraft avionics/communication/navigation systems and all other supporting aircraft systems that require avionics skills and knowledge. Perform assigned maintenance to specified KC-130J standards, including operational testing procedures and required functional tests in support of the KC-130J maintenance manual series. Apply troubleshooting, maintenance, and servicing procedures to inspect and repair aircraft wiring, wiring connectors, breaker assemblies, component removal, inspection, and reinstallation.

Use hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment for system testing, evaluation, and operation. Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, diagrams, schematics, and other specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repair or replacement.

• Apply thorough knowledge of COM/NAV and avionics systems, including modification procedures and experience with specific systems such as data bus, antennas, software, displays, communications/navigation equipment, and system integration.
• Troubleshoot and/or repair malfunctions in the aircraft avionics/communication/navigation systems and other supporting systems, performing maintenance in compliance with KC-130J directives and maintenance requirement cards, and conducting calibration procedures and functional tests.
• Maintain and service components, including wiring, wiring connectors, breaker assemblies, and component removal, inspection, and reinstallation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment in support of system testing, evaluation, and operation, complying with local tool control programs.
• Interpret maintenance instruction manuals and associated publications, orders, and directives, documenting maintenance actions.
• Read and apply manufacturers' maintenance manuals and technical data to determine feasibility and methods of repair or replacement.
• Use illustrated parts breakdowns to determine material requirements, research part numbers, and order parts for maintenance.
• Apply wiring schematics knowledge of aircraft COM/NAV and avionics systems and interpret technical data contained within schematics.
• Perform special, hourly, conditional, and phase maintenance inspections as required by MIMs, MRCs, manufacturer specifications, and directives.
• Remove, troubleshoot, inspect, reinstall, and replace aircraft COM/NAV and avionics components, including radios, antennas, electrical wiring, and other electronic components, per approved maintenance manuals.
• Document maintenance actions in the locally used computer database system accurately.
• Execute required “O” and “I” level battery maintenance functions as per maintenance manuals.
• Perform tasks associated with EKMS as directed by Kuwait Air Force and NAVAIR.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions, including cross‑training in all essential technical specialties, assisting with removal, inspection, repair, replacement, installation, and testing of aircraft component parts and survival equipment.
• Inspect, control, and prevent corrosion of aircraft metals and system components using approved procedures.
• Checkout and operate all necessary support equipment for flight line maintenance per established procedures.
• Conduct off‑station maintenance when required.
• Perform other duties and functions critical to program support as needed.
