Schedule

Full‑Time, Monday – Friday, 8‑hour shift

At the Kyle Correctional Center Programs Unit in Kyle, Texas, we provide a safe environment while helping offenders receive treatment to support their successful reintegration.

Essential Duties
  • Assists in planning chemical dependency counseling programs and coordinates delivery of counseling services to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction.
  • Provides a comprehensive evaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess recovery needs and re‑offense risk.
  • Participates in the Individual Treatment Plan based on the severity and characteristics of the offender as determined by assessment, collateral information, and clinical interview.
  • Provides counseling and recovery skills training; participates in offender orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups in compliance with program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a therapeutic community within the facility, working closely with correctional staff to create a peer‑driven living environment.
  • Maintains offender records and other records regarding services, including statistical feedback on evaluations; compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
  • At the conclusion of the program, develops an Individual Progress Summary for each offender on caseload to reflect evaluation results and comments on participation and quality of completion.
  • Submits a copy of the Individual Progress Summary to the Parole Division for inclusion in the Parole Case Summary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; major coursework in Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
  • Each year of experience beyond the required three (3) years may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Three (3) years full‑time, wage‑earning program administration or counseling experience required.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), or current valid certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, or a current valid Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) licensed to provide substance abuse treatment.
  • Therapeutic community environment experience preferred; experience in supervising employees preferred.
  • Must hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in‑service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
