Summaryof Position
Under the direction of the Pool Manager and supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the position accomplishes specialized work in protecting life, preventing accidents, enforcing safety regulations, and performs related work as required. This position is a temporary seasonal summer position.

The minimum starting rate is $19.00 per hour. (Eligible experience, education, and expertise may provide a greater starting base pay within the full pay grade.)
Essential Functions- Monitors and maintains swimmer safety at all times by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergency situations by providing standards of care.
- Provides customer service assistance to ensure positive public relations, resolve patron concerns, and meet patron needs.
- Assists with assigned recreation/aquatics programs and special events, including but not limited to setting up and tearing down equipment for scheduled recreation and swimming activities/events.
- Cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment throughout the day to ensure optimal cleanliness.
- Maintains inventories and ensures proper care of City property and equipment.
- Attending all required meetings, training, and in‑services as directed by the Pool Manager and/or the Recreation Coordinator.
- Assists with daily admission ensuring proper record keeping and cash handling.
- Stay current on skills and required certifications and follow all pool rules and regulations provided in the personnel policy or training.
- Responsible for enforcing rules and regulations at aquatic facilities.
- Performs all other duties as duly assigned.
- Maintains desired working relationship with Recreation Coordinator(s), Recreation Manager, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation, Maintenance Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation.
- Provides support to all City department programs and/or activities as needed.
- Actively participates in creating and providing desired service levels to the citizens of Kyle and non‑citizens outside the City of Kyle.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in delivering high‑quality customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of basic facility procedures, including opening and closing protocols and preparing cash‑on‑hand statements.
- Skills in making sound decisions and remaining calm, focused, and responsive in high‑pressure or emergency situations.
- Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance for potential water rescues.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, partner agencies, and the public.
- Age 16
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid or obtain before working
- Proof of an equivalent and current up to date lifeguard certification may substitute.
- The City of Kyle will certify and pay for certification if not already obtained.
- Previous lifeguard experience
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguard certification
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may be routinely required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Work may routinely require the employee to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
Work may require swimming up to 200 yards without stopping. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the individual to frequently work outdoors and indoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, moisture, and distracting noises. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
