Job Duties:
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking applicants for an academic year (9-month) instructional academic faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor with the start date of August 2026. This is a renewable non-tenure track instructional position. We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in American Politics, with an emphasis in public law, constitutional law, and/or legal studies.

Under general supervision of the department chair, successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours.
In addition, faculty provide service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Job Responsibilities:
* May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction
* Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance
* Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study
* Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit
* Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations
* Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction
* Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline
Department:

Required Qualifications:
* Master's Degree or JD in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree.
* Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
* Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Applicants with a completed PhD in Political Science are preferred, although advanced ABDs will also be considered.
* Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, including dynamic, inclusive, and engaging classroom practices
