Each department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. If hired from this pool, the instructor will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair. The instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, preparing for and holding classes (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online), maintaining currency in the content area, evaluating student work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular feedback, maintaining records, holding office hours, and advising students or providing other services to the department.

Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Pool searches may not be currently engaged in inactive hiring. When positions are needed, departments will review applications and contact you to confirm continued interest and schedule an interview.

• Facilitate classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• Serve as the initial point of contact for students regarding specific course or series content and expectations

Marketing

• Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctoral degree, or, in rare circumstances, post‑baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position. Depending on the program, specific certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required.
