Join the La Crosse Area Family YMCA as a STEM Coach and bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life for youth through hands‑on activities, creative problem‑solving, and encouraging mentorship. This part‑time role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young people, building confidence, and making learning feel exciting, welcoming, and accessible.
Responsibilities- Lead engaging STEM activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and problem‑solving.
- Create a fun, inclusive, and learning environment where every participant feels welcome and supported.
- Help youth build confidence as they explore science, technology, engineering, math, and real‑world applications.
- Prepare materials, set up activities, and keep program spaces organized, clean, and ready for learning.
This is a part‑time role supporting YMCA youth STEM programming in La Crosse and Onalaska. Schedule may vary based on program needs, school‑year programming, special events, and seasonal opportunities.
Requirements- Interest in STEM education, youth development, hands‑on learning, or related programming.
- Experience working with youth in a school, camp, childcare, after‑school, recreation, mentoring, or similar setting preferred.
- Ability to lead activities, give clear instructions, and adapt lessons for different ages, abilities, and learning styles.
- Positive, patient, dependable, and encouraging approach with youth and families.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a supportive team.
- Ability to respond to common questions or concerns from participants, members, staff, administration, and the general public.
- 50% discount on Y programs.
- 403(b) retirement account.
- 12% retirement after 2 years and 1,000 hours per year.
