Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
As the Lead System Engineer, you are responsible for all aspects of equipment design for Chillers and Heat Pumps to support the North American Water-Cooled Chiller product portfolio. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to create innovative designs that will reduce the energy intensity of our customers’ cooling systems and decarbonize their heating applications with high efficiency heat pumps.
You will guide the team to solve problems through a stage-gate development process. This includes, but not limited to, design creation/documentation, change management during development, design for manufacturability, product cost, product performance, reliability, all while maintaining the project schedules.
- Oversee the projects design and release of chiller and heat pump equipment designs and sub-systems from concept generation through the release of design deliverables. This includes heat exchangers, compressors, controls, electrical design, general assembly, and any other required subsystems.
- Facilitate and contribute to the cross-functional development and delivery of market requirements (MRD) to the product requirements documentation (PRD) and the ensuing product design documentation (PDD) to meet business objectives.
- Ensure the proper engineering specifications and requirements are applied to drive the selection, and qualification of all purchased components/assemblies or internally supplied components.
- Lead concept design reviews, technical design reviews, detailed model reviews, and drawing reviews for components, sub-systems, and the overall chiller/heat pump system.
- Collaborate with the cross functional engineering team to create and modify DFMEA and DVP&R to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Utilize, develop and deploy best practices to increase the quality, deployment and cost/efficiency of the execution and effectiveness of engineering projects and teams.
- Partner with the manufacturing project leader and the manufacturing engineering team to incorporate design for manufacturing (DFM) principles into the product design.
- Own the product cost models; ensure the projected cost meets the agreed upon cost requirement.
- Team with product management, manufacturing, quality, and project management to develop requirements and track compliance to the agreed upon requirements.
- Travel domestically 5-10% of the time to interact with colleagues working on chiller and heat pump products, typically between Pueblo, CO and La Crosse, WI.
