POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, sets up and operates various production fabric cutting machines; may spread/lay‑out fabric material and perform cutting operations of varying degrees of complexity or design. The Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining automated cutting machines and preparing all cut fabric pieces for final sewing assembly. This position ensures accuracy, quality, and efficiency in the cutting process while supporting production schedules and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Note: This position will initially be based at Borah Teamwear in Coon Valley, WI
, with a planned transfer to ORC Industries in La Crosse, WI
.
- Sets up and performs varying degrees of fabric spreading operations, to include machine fabric cutting operations as assigned and required by product line operations; may be required to perform minor set‑up and/or adjustments to cutting machines.
- Operate and maintain multiple automated cutting tables, use associated computer programs, and make adjustments to cutting techniques based on fabric types and styles.
- Inspect materials to ensure specifications are met, adjust machines as needed, and carefully cut materials by hand or with electric knives following patterns.
- Remove, label, sort, and stage cut fabric pieces per work orders and maintain strong knowledge of Borah Teamwear’s product lines to ensure accurate assembly preparation.
- Read and interpret work orders using ERP software, follow production schedules, and communicate with other departments to support production flow.
- Monitor raw material inventory, communicate replenishment needs, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Must be able to adhere and follow all safety procedures, i.e., lock‑out/tag‑out; report safety concerns, use appropriate PPE as required, and follow similar safety practices.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and changing environment; must demonstrate sound judgment in daily tasks.
- Must maintain a positive attitude and work well within a team environment.
