Role Overview

We are looking for Line Leads on the 3rd Shift in La Crosse, WI.

  • Schedule Options:
    • 1st Shift, Monday
      - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (1 Opening)
    • 2nd Shift, Monday
      - Friday 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (1 Opening)
    • 3rd Shift, Sunday
      - Thursday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (No Openings)
  • The Line Lead is responsible for performing and overseeing all tasks involved in the production of Select Custom Solutions products, with primary responsibility for leading the work crew for a specific production line.
  • Follow standard work methods, safe work habits, and GMP procedures to ensure efficient and safe production.
  • Work in all areas of production as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Handle bags of product weighing at least 25 kg (55.115 lbs).
  • Ensure safety protocols and GMP procedures are adhered to and review them with operators.
  • Check blend sheet paperwork; confirm proper components, matched lot numbers, and correct labeling.
  • Complete the pre‑operation inspection log on the Daily Production Record.
  • Review the production schedule for the assigned line and confirm all necessary items are staged.
  • Check batched materials to ensure they are signed off by Quality Assurance and staged per schedule.
  • Ensure special components (oil, oil sprayer, tote dump, bag type, etc.) are available as needed.
  • Communicate the daily schedule to the line crew.
  • Coordinate packaging needs (size, type, timing) with the batching employee.
  • Ensure metal detector and sifter checks are performed by a qualified operator at required frequencies.
  • Verify tare weight on the scale and maintain it during packaging.
  • Assign employees to specific workstations and inform the supervisor of absences or line problems.
  • Monitor all phases of the production line and the quality of the product.
  • Notify Maintenance of any potential mechanical problems promptly.
  • Perform periodic bag seal inspections and ensure required samples are pulled.
  • Monitor product consistency (color changes or variations) during a run.
  • Ensure pallets are neatly stacked and bags are scaled to the correct weight.
  • Perform checks on product yield/recovery during the run.
  • Ensure product changeovers are completed properly.
  • Sweep out and tap down tanks following normal product flow.
  • Check sifter tailings and CCPs and record notes on the production record.
  • Clear the line of unused materials (labels, bags, etc.), bag samples, and turn them into Quality Assurance.
  • Close out paperwork for the run, including yield calculation to confirm material recovery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and line.
  • Complete forklift operational checks at the beginning of each shift.
  • Operate the forklift if forklift qualifications are met.
  • Read ingredient information and count bags on a pallet.
  • Palletize product as it moves off the production lines.
  • Train new production line workers on all lines.
  • Maintain regular contact with production employees, the Production Supervisor, and Plant Manager.
  • Occasional contact with Quality Assurance and federal/state/regulatory inspectors on an annual basis.
  • Adapt to additional duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.

Our La Crosse, WI, plant houses approximately 330 employees and supplies the food, beverage, and nutritional industries with innovative functional ingredients and high‑quality contract manufacturing services.
