Job Overview
Gundersen Health System is seeking Registered Nurses for its Labor and Delivery unit in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This full‑time (0.9 FTE) position involves 12‑hour night shifts across 72 hours every two weeks with every other weekend and two holidays per calendar year.
Work EnvironmentThe Labor & Delivery unit has 7 labor rooms, 4 triage rooms, and 2 operating rooms, handling more than 1,800 deliveries annually. It is the sole high‑risk peripartum unit in the region.
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑level, evidence‑based care to pregnant, laboring, and post‑partum patients in a high‑risk peripartum unit.
- Work closely with obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, family medicine doctors, and other RN staff in a collaborative environment.
- Support patients through physiologic birth, surgical delivery, and high‑acuity interventions such as IV pain medication, epidural anesthesia, and PCA nitrous oxide.
- Provide person‑centered coping support and education to patients and their chosen support/families.
- Maintain clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Active RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
- BLS certification for healthcare providers.
- RN experience preferred.
Starting pay of $38.96 per hour, based on experience, with generous shift, weekend, and holiday differentials.
