Analytical Chemist - 1st shift
The Associate Chemist will be responsible for operating GC instrumentation and conducting routine testing on oils and refrigerants. This role involves analyzing the behaviors of these substances and their interactions with HVAC system materials. The position requires performing titrations for total acid, sample weighing, and running FTIR and HPLC. Opportunities to work with additional analytical instruments such as GC-MS and ICP are available.
Training in routine chemistry testing is provided, with potential for skill expansion as proficiency is achieved.
- Operate GC instrumentation for testing oils and refrigerants.
- Conduct routine testing and analyze interactions with HVAC system materials.
- Perform titrations for total acid and weigh samples.
- Run FTIR and HPLC, with opportunities to operate GC-MS and ICP.
- Compile and analyze data in collaboration with advanced chemistry staff.
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related life science degree.
- 0-1 year of chemistry lab experience.
- Experience with GC instrumentation is ideal.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry and wet chemistry.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience running analytical instrumentation such as HPLC.
- Interest in expanding technical skills with additional analytical instruments.
The work environment includes spending 75-85% of the time in the lab and 20-25% at a desk compiling data with advanced chemistry staff. The lab underwent a multimillion-dollar remodel a year ago, featuring 7 exhaust hoods and 20 analytical instruments. It is a typical chemistry lab setting with glassware and benchtop chemistry. You will be working with liquids and gases alongside a team of 5 staff members who are always in the lab, with others joining occasionally.

This is a Contract position based out of La Crosse, WI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
