Part‑Time Driftless Pass Support Specialist‑La Crosse

The Support Specialist provides services in the community, alternative school and on site in the form of mentoring, academic and behavior management support, as agreed upon by the Program Coordinator/Director and Special Education Teacher. The Support Specialist relays information back to their Coordinator/Director to keep the family, school or other agencies informed. The Support Specialist will also help Paraprofessionals, Coordinator, and Teacher to ensure and maintain a safe learning environment.

• Ability to analyze problems and set client centered goals.
• Ability to work the programmed school day (M-F 8:30‑2:30).
• Ability to learn and implement students’ behavior plan and any changes made to the behavior support plan.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, staff and other community agencies.
• Ability to evaluate and follow up on client progress.
• Adapt to students’ needs as they change.
• Maintains accurate logs, units of service, and behavior support plans.
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
• Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities.
• Ability to transport students in the community if needed.

• Frequent physical interaction with participants while fulfilling behavioral and structural programming. This may include physical restraint. Must be able to perform physical intervention to protect safety of client or others in immediate environment without direct risk of substantial harm to client or themselves.
• May spend 50%-75% of the day on feet or moving.
• Ability to move quickly to prevent a student from leaving a designated area.
