Position Summary

Eastern Oregon University’s Psychology Program invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position, with teaching responsibilities for both on-campus and online courses within the program.

The Psychology Program seeks applications for a faculty colleague with teaching competency and expertise in at least one of the following two areas: biological psychology (teaching Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, Sensation and Perception, and/or Emotion and Motivation) or development (teaching Child Development and Lifespan Development). Other courses that faculty may be asked to teach include introductory psychology, research methods and statistics, or writing in psychology.

In addition, the successful candidate should be willing to teach a senior capstone experimental course. There is a preference for an individual whose research interests are in areas which are accessible to both campus and online students at a primarily undergraduate university. Opportunities for summer teaching are also available.

This full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank.

The successful candidates will start Fall 2027 term, with the appointments starting on September 16, 2027.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s teaching responsibilities will include on-campus and online classes in the psychology program in areas such as biological psychology (teaching Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, Sensation and Perception, and/or Emotion and Motivation) or development (teaching Child Development and Lifespan Development), research methods/statistics, or writing in psychology. The successful candidate should be willing to teach a senior capstone experimental course. EOU is especially interested in experimental psychologists with research interests in areas which are accessible to both campus and online students at a primarily undergraduate university.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in a field of psychology with emphasis in biological or developmental psychology from a regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is required.
  • Demonstrated interest and desire to work with colleagues.
  • Evidence of or potential for scholarly achievement.
  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
