Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to the Unit Nurse Manager and/or Nursing Supervisor. Provides direct patient care in the Medical‑Surgical Department. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with providers about changes in patient’s clinical condition including: patient monitoring and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Performs general nursing duties in Medical‑Surgical department in collaboration with providers. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse with unencumbered Oregon License
- BSN or greater preferred
- BLS current – If Charge Nurse: ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire
- CMSRN Certification preferred
- Worked within an acute care setting related to the Medical‑Surgical department
- Verifiable work experience as a Medical‑Surgical RN preferred
- Must possess quality writing and verbal skills
- Work collaboratively within a team setting
- Maintain composure in stressful situations
- Adhere to Corporations time and attendance requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with providers, patients, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Medication administration, blood administration and immunization.
- Observing all age groups for signs of illness, changes in behavior, or acute distress.
- Teaching patients about active, acute and chronic diagnosis.
- Monitoring patient’s physical and mental health during care, including VS and labs for trends.
- Providing support to patients who are experiencing anxiety, stress, or other mental health issues related to care.
- Identification of patients who have needs beyond the ER and proper referrals to ancillary departments as needed.
- Charting via electronic medical records.
- Patient and Family care post mortem
- Collaboration with care management team, including but not limited to provider, NP, ancillary departments, case managers, PCP.
