House Float Registered Nurse (RN) - Full-Time
Position Summary:
The House Float Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to all patient populations in four nursing departments:
Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), Intensive Care/Critical Care Unit (ICU/CCU), Family Birth Center (FBC) and Emergency Department (ED). Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. The incumbent applies the nursing process within their scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Work includes assessing, developing, and implementing an individualized plan of care in collaboration with providers, interdisciplinary teams, and the patient and/or family throughout their hospitalization while following each department-based standards of care.
Qualifications:
- Current Oregon Registered Nurse license without restriction
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (CPR) required
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred. Must have within 6 months of hire.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or equivalent, STABLE certification, and NRP certification preferred. Must have these within 6 months of hire
- At least one-year acute care nursing experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree of Nursing (BSN) or greater preferred
- Specialty certification preferred: i.e. Critical Care Nurse (CCRN), Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)

- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively for the provision of patient care.
- Ability to interpret, prepare and maintain patient information using the electronic medical record.
- Skilled in making sound decisions and practicing critical thinking, especially when responding to urgent and emergent situations.
- Skilled in therapeutic communication with the ability explain complex medical topics.
- Skilled in performing service recovery to promote a positive patient experience, addressing complaints before they become grievances and escalating issues to supervisors for resolution as appropriate.
- Knowledge of health equity and ability to provide age-specific, culturally competent care that considers the patient's physical, psychosocial, and socioeconomic needs.
