Child Protective Services Case Aide (Social Service Assistant)

Summary of Duties- Provide administrative support to caseworkers by managing case notes, documentation, and coordination of appointments and forms for families.
- Gather and enter information from collateral contacts into the agency’s electronic system.
- Support caseworkers with home visits, client contacts, and transportation of clients, medications, and ensure children in care meet medical and mental health assessment timelines.
- Transport children or parents to and from family time.
- Communicate with community partners to coordinate resources and support for children and families, maintaining a resource spreadsheet by neighborhood or school district.
- Contact case participants or community partners to obtain information on behalf of caseworkers for placement planning.
- Attend case‑related meetings, staff, and conferences to support casework activities.
- Assist with community and home visits with children and families.
- On occasion, provide testimony in court regarding visitation observations, experiences, and other applicable information.
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting OR an associate degree in any field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience conducting work that requires attention to detail, particularly when creating or reviewing documents.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to engage with a variety of people, de‑escalate tense situations, and be assertive when necessary.
- Experience working both with a team and independently, managing time efficiently.
- Ability to write clearly, concisely, and with minimal spelling or grammar issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and showcase intercultural competency.
- Work conducted in offices, participants’ homes, and other community sites.
- Professional work week Monday‑Friday; hours may fluctuate based on service needs.
- Occasional compensated overtime, including evenings and weekends.
- Some travel may involve hazardous weather conditions.
- Interaction with people who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Activities in physically demanding settings (e.g., traversing stairs, uneven terrain, transporting children up to 40 pounds).
Selected finalists will undergo a criminal history and background check. Adverse criminal history may lead to disqualification. Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint‑based criminal records check. Within three days of hire, the employee must complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s I‑9 form and be authorized for E‑Verify.
