We are currently seeking to fill a Limited Duration Temporary Lodging Family Time Coordinator (Social Service Assistant) to join our Child Welfare team in the La Grande office. La Grande is in rural Eastern Oregon.
- Limited Duration to end 6/30/2027.
- Limited Duration positions are eligible for health benefits, leave accrual, and are represented by a union.
Summary Of Duties
As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families.
As a Temporary Lodging Family Time Coordinator, You Will
- Work across all child welfare program areas as part of the service delivery team.
- Ensure the supervision and safety of children in temporary lodging settings.
- Support the temporary lodging team with daily operations and child‑specific needs.
- Transport children as needed for appointments, school or other case plan needs.
- Contribute to risk and safety assessments and related decision‑making.
- Provide observations and interactions that inform comprehensive child and family assessments, safety plans, and supervision plans.
- Prepare notes for court testimony.
- Support child placement efforts by helping maintain stable placements in resource parent homes or in‑home placements with parents.
- Bridge short‑term gaps that help sustain placements and align with the agency’s vision for system transformation.

Minimum Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
- One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting.
- An associate degree in any field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to engage with a variety of people, the ability to de‑escalate tense situations, and the ability to be assertive when necessary.
