The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
Responsibilities- Develop and issue request for quotes to vendors.
- Research and create requisitions for goods and non-professional services when expenditures exceed the agency’s small purchase authority.
- Coordinate with various departments for input to contract requests.
- Create delivery orders and purchase orders for purchases.
- Complete purchase orders, obtain approval, and forward approved purchase orders to vendors for processing.
- Review requests for local purchases by phone and in writing, and authorize such purchases in accordance with the model procurement code.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. - Experience:
Two years of purchasing experience. - Substitution:
Experience in purchasing will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Certification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) may substitute for years of the college requirement as specified.
