Strategic Sourcing Manager

The Strategic Sourcing Manager owns how Vac2

Go buys. This role is responsible for sourcing and procurement across consumables, parts, and accessories; negotiating pricing and terms on new truck purchases; building strategic supplier agreements that lower total cost of ownership; and standing up an internal warehouse with disciplined min/max inventory management that keeps our yards stocked and our fleet running.

The right candidate combines sharp negotiation skills with hands-on supply chain execution. They protect margin without sacrificing uptime, build supplier relationships grounded in accountability, and make sure the right part is on the right shelf before the truck needs it. This role directly supports fleet readiness, rental-ready standards, and Vac2

Go's continued growth.

Strategic Sourcing & Consumables
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for consumables and high-turn items including hoses, tiger tails, nozzles, cam-lock fittings and gaskets, filters, wear parts, fluids, wiper blades, PPE, and shop supplies.
  • Consolidate spend across yards to leverage company-wide purchasing volume and eliminate one-off, retail-price buying.
  • Establish approved supplier lists, standardized part numbers, and pricing catalogs accessible to every yard.
  • Track and report cost savings, price variances, and supplier performance against defined targets.
Fleet & Capital Equipment Purchasing
  • Partner with the Fleet Team to negotiate pricing, specifications, delivery schedules, and warranty terms for new truck purchases, including chassis and body builders for vacuum trucks, hydro excavators, combination units, and industrial vacuum trucks (air movers).
  • Build multi-unit and multi-year purchase frameworks that secure build slots and volume pricing while preserving flexibility.
  • Partner with Operations and Fleet leadership on specification standardization to reduce parts proliferation and simplify maintenance across the fleet.
Strategic Supplier Agreements
  • Negotiate and manage national and regional agreements.
  • Structure agreements with clear pricing mechanisms, service-level commitments, rebate and growth incentives, and exit provisions.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers, holding them accountable to cost, quality, and delivery commitments.
  • Identify and qualify secondary suppliers to protect the company from single-source risk and supply disruptions.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
  • Design and stand up an internal central warehouse, including layout, racking, receiving and picking processes, and inventory control systems.
  • Establish min/max levels, reorder points, and safety stock for all stocked items based on usage history, lead times, and criticality to fleet uptime.
  • Implement cycle counting and inventory accuracy standards; drive shrinkage and obsolescence out of the system.
  • Build the replenishment process between the central warehouse and yards so every location is stocked to standard without excess.
  • Define and track KPIs including inventory turns, fill rate, stock-out frequency, and inventory carrying cost.
Cross-Functional & Leadership
  • Act as a liaison between yards, shop operations, fleet, and finance to align purchasing with operational priorities and budgets.
  • Prepare and present sourcing plans, savings results, and inventory performance to the COO and senior leadership.
  • Develop purchasing policies, approval workflows, and controls that balance speed for the field with financial discipline.
  • Support 24/7/365 operational commitments by ensuring critical parts availability for emergency and after-hours needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management; industrial equipment, heavy truck, fleet, or rental industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record negotiating capital equipment purchases and supplier agreements with measurable cost savings.
  • Hands-on experience setting up or managing warehouse operations and min/max inventory systems.
  • Strong analytical skills; proficiency with Excel and inventory/ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel to 35%-40% of the time
