Cedar Lake Lodge - La Grange, KY

$17.50 (+$2.00 differential for nights) - PRN (as needed): minimum of 16 hours per month to maintain SNAP status. Additional hours including weekends and evenings are available.

What you’ll do:

The Student Nurse Apprentice provides quality care to the Individuals we support. The SNAP role is a paid position for students who are currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. The SNAP will work under the guidance and direction of a licensed nurse. The SNAP position provides direct care in accordance to the individuals we support individual program plan of care;

coordinates work within the health services department; coordinates work with other departments as appropriate; initiates and follow preventative measures to protect individuals from undue injury, illness or trauma with the goal of developing, maintaining, and improving the individuals' physical well‑being; reports pertinent information to the nurse; and assists the nurse with tasks to support department operations.

  • To participate in the individual's individual program plan and ensure the health services aspects of that plan.
  • Provides quality care to Individuals we support in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality as illustrated by the following:
  • Is knowledgeable of the Individuals' plan of care and provides support to the Individuals according to their Individual Program Plan (IPP). Contributes to the care planning process by providing the nurse or other members of the Interdisciplinary Team with specific information and observations of the Individuals' needs and preferences.
  • Fully understands all aspects of Individuals' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse.
  • Is responsible for immediately reporting to the facility administrator incidents or evidence of abuse or violation of Individuals' rights.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; reports environmental deficiencies to the nurse such as lighting or equipment problems.
  • Observes Individuals for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to the nurse.
  • Performs various tasks assigned by the nurse, including weighing Individuals, treatments, vital signs and collecting specimens and phlebotomy.
  • Lifts, moves, and transports Individuals, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.
  • Completes appropriate records, documenting care provided or other information in keeping with department policies.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures.
  • Walks extensively to and from various locations of the unit while making rounds and transports Individuals within the facility.
  • Performs other work as assigned or requested
