Payroll Specialist

Description

Our client in the nonprofit industry is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll processing while ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Process payroll for employees on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy of wages, deductions, and tax with holdings

+ Maintain payroll records, employee updates, and related documentation

+ Review and reconcile timesheets, payroll reports, and benefit deductions

+ Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

+ Assist with payroll tax filings, year-end reporting, and audit support

+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

+ Partner with Human Resources and Accounting teams on payroll-related matters

+ Help improve payroll processes and maintain strong internal control

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred

+ 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment

+ Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices

+

Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel

+ Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality

+ Excellent communication and organizational skills

+ CPP certification is a plus
