Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring at least 2 years of CVICU experience and a CA RN license in hand.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a community hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule runs Sunday through Saturday
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle
  • At least one holiday shift required, including the holiday weekend
  • May float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across the health system's 5 hospitals in the San Diego area
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration (Temporary or Permanent, no EMSA)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required, no pending certs)
  • Preferred certifications: CRRT, LVAD, and TNCC
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU-specific experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year
  • At least 1.5 years of continuous specialty experience with matching patient ratios
  • Minimum 1 year of total travel experience required, with 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
  • Epic or combined Epic/Cerner EMR experience required within the last 6 months
  • Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and ventilator management
  • Experience with cardiovascular procedures including IABP, TAVR, CABG, and Swan-Ganz monitoring preferred
  • 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
  • Maximum 7 days of requested RTO, with no additional RTO requests after consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients, including pre/post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization care
  • Manage patients on mechanical circulatory support devices and monitor for cardiac and hemodynamic complications
  • Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive medications, including continuous IV sedation and paralytics
  • Collaborate with the care team to manage ventilated and critically ill patients
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Local candidates within 100 miles of the facility are not eligible, except LVNs/LPNs
  • Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are considered local and are not eligible
  • Returning staff or travelers must wait 1 year after their last assignment before returning
  • International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
