Position: Scientist I

Scientist I

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist I to support the development of an innovative non-viral cell and gene therapy delivery platform focused on next-generation nucleic acid payload technologies. This role will contribute to research and development efforts by designing and evaluating novel mRNA and DNA constructs using advanced molecular biology techniques, including plasmid cloning, in vitro validation, and production of in vitro-transcribed (IVT) mRNA.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in molecular cloning, RNA workflows, and molecular assays used to evaluate gene expression and transgene delivery outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and construct expression vectors and IVT donor plasmids to support research programs.
  • Perform DNA and mRNA transfections in both mouse and human cell lines.
  • Evaluate nucleic acid expression and delivery efficiency using qPCR, reporter assays, and Western blot analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and organized Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN).
  • Prepare research summaries and presentation materials for internal stakeholders.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with 1+ years of experience in Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or related scientific disciplines.

Technical skills required include:

  • Advanced molecular biology expertise, including Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate Cloning, Site-Directed Mutagenesis, and In Vitro Transcription (IVT).
  • Experience performing functional assays to evaluate transgene expression and delivery success.
  • Strong laboratory skills in qRT-PCR, reporter assays, and protein expression analysis.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with cell culture and genetic manipulation of cell lines and primary cells (T cells, monocytes, hepatocytes).
  • Familiarity with Snap Gene, Graph Pad Prism, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional skills include:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
