AI Product Engineer

The role:

You will be Plumb's first dedicated AI hire — the person who takes AI from concept to shipped product inside a real fintech platform serving ultra high net worth clients. You will not be handed a spec. You will be handed a problem, a production environment, and direct access to leadership, and you will figure out how to build the right thing.

We are hiring a small cohort of up to three engineers. Each person owns one product track from day one — you are not a support resource, you are not doing tickets for someone else's roadmap. You own something real. You will collaborate with your cohort and work directly alongside our internal dev team, but the AI layer is yours.

We are not looking for the most credentialed candidate. We are looking for someone who ships — who can take a problem, figure out the right approach, build it, and put it in front of real users. If that is how you work, we want to talk to you.

You must have:

• Degree in CS, AI, Data Science, or a closely related field (recent grads welcome)
• Proficiency in Python — this is your primary tool
• Experience working with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar)
• Ability to design and build end-to-end AI workflows, not just prompts
• Strong written communication — you will document your work and present it to leadership
• A bias toward shipping — you figure things out, you don't wait to be told how

Nice to have:

• Experience with agent frameworks:
  Lang Chain, Lang Graph, CrewAI, Auto Gen
• Familiarity with RAG, vector databases, or retrieval systems
• Experience integrating AI into existing web applications or APIs
• Background in structured financial data or transaction processing
• Any exposure to fintech, accounting software, or ERP-adjacent systems
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL, or automated report generation

$70,000–$85,000 base salary, depending on experience and fit

Significant bonus potential tied to project milestones and outcomes — details discussed at offer

Full ownership:
You own your project track from day one — no task queues, no middle management

Direct access:
Work directly with Plumb leadership. Your work will be seen and your input will matter

La Jolla office:
