Registered Nurse (ICU) (PRN) (Rotating Shifts) – Intensive Care Unit

Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado, seeks a compassionate and skilled ICU RN for rotating shifts.

• Administer medications correctly based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Perform head‑to‑toe assessments and reassessments for pediatric, geriatric, and general patients.
• Revise patient care plans in response to treatment outcomes and evaluate daily effectiveness.
• Develop and implement teaching plans, including family education.
• Conduct pain management assessments and educate patients/families.
• Perform treatments and provide services, including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia identification.
• Communicate professionally with ICU Nursing Director, coworkers, and physicians.
• Consult other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach.
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical skills.
• Remain flexible, organized, and able to function under stressful situations.
• Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
• Serve as liaison between Administration, patients, physicians, and other health‑care providers.
• Collaborate with patient/family in plan of care formation.
• Maintain accurate, legible documentation in line with current standards.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care when required.
• Support Director in core measures and quality initiatives.
• Screen for suicide risk, apply precautions, and complete required monitoring forms.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely, submitting requisitions when needed.

• Current Colorado Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification (within one year of hire).
• PALS certification (within one year of hire).
• Successful completion of arrhythmia competency (within six months of hire).
