At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), our clinical support staff play a vital role in ensuring safe, respectful, and patient‑centered care. We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Patient Care Technicians to join our care teams in La Junta, Colorado.

Position Summary

As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will support patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs while assisting the care team across departments in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to changing patient conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care that meets psychosocial, physical, and general care needs
  • Deliver age‑appropriate care for pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients
  • Assist with activities of daily living and basic nursing care under RN supervision
  • Provide one‑on‑one observation for patients experiencing acute self‑harm ideation
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response
Monitoring and Communication
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with nurses, physicians, and team members
  • Explain care procedures to patients and families within scope of practice
  • Support patient and family involvement in care
Communication & Collaboration
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and team members
  • Report changes in condition, diagnostic results, and symptoms promptly
  • Consult other departments to support an interdisciplinary approach to care
  • Assist physicians with procedures requiring technical and manual skills under RN direction
Safety, Compliance & Professionalism
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and nursing standards
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations
  • Perform general nursing duties across departments with appropriate supervision
  • Train as backup for ER Assistant as needed
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current BLS Certification
  • MA, NA, or EMT Certification or be enrolled in a nursing program
