Security Department | Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC)

Position Summary

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting patients, visitors, staff, and facility property by maintaining a visible security presence, responding to emergencies, enforcing facility policies, and monitoring hospital grounds and buildings. You will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, orderly, and secure healing environment.

Key Responsibilities Safety & Security Operations
  • Patrol facility buildings, grounds, and parking areas to deter crime, vandalism, fire, and theft
  • Secure, unlock, and protect hospital buildings and restricted areas
  • Ensure that only authorized individuals are admitted onto facility premises
  • Monitor the facility using electronic security systems, including cameras
  • Inspect doors, windows, and locks to ensure appropriate security levels
  • Identify and report safety hazards and fire risks during routine patrols
Emergency Response & Incident Management
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non‑emergency situations
  • Respond to all facility codes and emergency calls for assistance
  • Control disorderly conduct and respond to combative patients as needed
  • Investigate unusual incidents and document findings accurately and clearly
  • Complete incident reports and submit verbal or written reports by the end of each shift
  • Remain readily available during assigned shifts and may not leave until properly relieved
Assistance & Customer Service
  • Escort patients, visitors, and personnel to and from parking areas upon request
  • Assist motorists who become stranded on facility property
  • Provide courteous and professional responses to all inquiries from patients, visitors, and staff
  • Promote a safe environment tailored to patients’ age‑specific needs
Professionalism & Compliance
  • Enforce facility policies and procedures as directed by Administration and the Environment of Care Director
  • Follow all directives issued by the Security Manager
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and facility information at all times
  • Represent AVRMC positively and professionally within the community
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities
  • Attend required training sessions, meetings, and ongoing education
  • Develop proficiency in self‑defense techniques and authorized non‑lethal defensive tools
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • No felony convictions involving violence or theft
  • CPR/BLS Certification (required before the end of the probationary period; recertification biennially)
Preferred
  • Up to two years of experience in law enforcement, corrections, or security management
