Helping young children and families access depth of life with God through Jesus. The primary purpose of the Little Ones Lead is to facilitate the recruiting, equipping, and leading a team of volunteer leaders for Sunday services in Little Ones.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Recruit Volunteers
- Actively seek out volunteers to join the Little Ones Team.
- Build an effective and reliable volunteer team to consistently run each service.
- Create a team of volunteers who want to see kids experience Jesus regularly.
- Equip Volunteers
- Provide training for all new volunteers and regular training for current volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers follow our Kids Ministry General Policies and Procedures.
- Assure background checks and handbook requirements are completed.
- Provide and follow the volunteer checklist.
- Follow the onboarding process of the One Sheet agreement and assign and train each volunteer to lead an aspect of Sunday mornings.
- Oversee the Little Ones Lead Volunteer:
Training, encouraging, providing oversight. - Regularly connect with the Lead Volunteer to give/receive feedback and to look for ways to improve the volunteer experience and connections with children.
- Parent/Family Relations
- Connect with families that miss more than two weeks of services by email or text.
- Invite parents to participate in a class to see what their child experiences during a Sunday service.
- Ensure parents are given family devotionals to take home to enhance their mid‑week conversations.
- Curriculum Preparation
- Review and prepare to lead weekly story lessons.
- Assign volunteer leaders to teach lessons when available.
- Send a weekly team email with the curriculum guide and important information to help prepare volunteers for Weekend Services.
- Share curriculum input by the Kids Associate with the volunteer team during CCB Scheduling.
- Room Preparation for Sunday Morning
- Be the face of Little Ones. Welcome all new families and assist in getting them connected as much as possible.
- Set up rooms including decorations, lesson materials, craft, game supplies, and handouts.
- Ensure video lessons are prepared and uploaded – if needed.
- Clean up rooms following the service and replace supplies.
- Help keep the Resource Rooms organized and stocked.
- Worship Center Cry Room Maintenance and Upkeep
- Equipping the Cry Room in such a way that it is a welcoming environment.
- Updates to toys, rugs, paint, furniture, etc. as needed.
- Schedule carpet cleaning as needed.
- Ensure diapers, wipes, etc. are fully stocked each weekend.
- Generations Team Participation
- Help plan, prep and work all Kids Ministry Special Events including, but not limited to, holiday services and annual Summer Fun Camp.
- Attend all Journey, Generations Team, and Kids Team Meetings and Training.
- If attendance isn’t possible due to other commitments, it is the Little Ones Lead’s responsibility to read meeting notes and follow up with questions in a timely manner.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
2-3 years of experience working with infant and preschool age children. - Training:
Complete CPR and First Aid training, Sexual Harassment training and Mandated Reporter training every two years. - Experience in preschool or children’s ministry leadership.
- Knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and its application to each age group.
- Knowledge of Center Set and its application for how we do church.
- Able to equip volunteer leaders to share God’s love and stories on an age‑appropriate level.
- Communication, organizational skills, time management, leadership, initiative, attention to detail and flexibility core competencies.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and exercise a sense of urgency.
- Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others.
- Ability to discern and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
