Occupational Therapy Assistant (Healthcare)
Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board regulations. Follow physician treatment plans. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other healthcare team members regarding patient progress, issues, and plans. Participate in staff training programs. Document evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, recertification, and treatment changes in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and other regulatory requirements.
Educate patients' families and nursing staff on maintenance and caregiver training for discharge preparation. Participate in discharge planning. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Report equipment problems for maintenance. Demonstrate positive, effective, and appropriate communication with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
Supervisory Requirements: This position is non-supervisory.
Qualifications- Licensed as a Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state.
- Proficient in computer skills, including data entry into programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
- Ability to read and understand technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
- Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving and interpretative skills for practical situations and instructions.
- Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state.
- Maintain continuing education requirements and a valid license in good standing.
This role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, and smelling. Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to exert significant force when moving objects. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentThe environment is typically low to moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Management may reassign duties as needed.
